How to browse the web privately (Chrome, Edge, Firefox, and Safari)

One of the benefits of browsing the internet in “private” (or “incognito”) mode, is that it enables you to start a sand-boxed version of your browser without carrying over data and information from previous logged-in sessions that could get in the way of logging into your Spark4Kids accounts.

The steps below show you how to start up the most popular browsers in “incognito” mode.

Google Chrome

  1. Open Chrome
  2. Click the three dots in the upper-right corner.
  3. Select New Incognito window
  4. Alternatively, use the shortcut Ctrl + Shift + N on Windows/Linux or ⌘ + Shift + N on macOS

Microsoft Edge

  1. Open Edge
  2. Click the three dots in the upper-right corner
  3. Select New InPrivate window
  4. Alternatively, use the shortcut Ctrl + Shift + P.

Mozilla Firefox

  1. Open Firefox
  2. Click the three lines in the upper-right corner
  3. Select New Private Window
  4. Alternatively, use the shortcut Ctrl + Shift + P on Windows/Linux or ⌘ + Shift + P on macOS

Safari

  1. Open Safari
  2. Click File at the top menu bar
  3. Select New Private Window

Opera

  1. Open Opera
  2. Click the Opera menu at the top-left corner
  3. Select New Private Window
  4. Alternatively, use the shortcut Ctrl + Shift + N on Windows/Linux or ⌘ + Shift + N on macOS.

To exit Private Mode on any of the browsers, simply close the private window in each browser.

Note: While private mode helps hide browsing history locally, it does not protect against tracking by websites or tracking by your ISP.
