  • Foundational Coding Skills 4 DofE (age 13-17)

    The Foundational Coding Skills 4 DofE course introduces absolute beginners – who have never written a line of code for the web – to the fundamental concepts of computer coding, including algorithms, sequencing, variables, inputs and outputs, selection (decision-making), iteration (loops) and debugging. Through fun, hands-on challenges, attendees will develop logical thinking and problem-solving skills while learning how to create simple programs and interactive applications.

    Weekly sessions are led by a LIVE!, remote tutor who is able to provide attendees guidance in real-time, along with progress reviews during the sessions. At the end of the course, you will receive a Spark4Kids certificate and a Skills Assessor report will be submitted to the Duke of Edinburgh towards your eventual skills award.

    This course has a taster session Foundational Coding Skills Taster 4 DofE where participants can get a sense of what the full course entails before registering.

    The Web Coding 4 Kids course is designed for children aged 11-17 during which they will learn how to hand-code HTML, CSS and JavaScript by building a mini-website providing information on a topic of their choice. HTML, CSS and JavaScript are the three fundamental building blocks of all websites on the world-wide web, and this course covers these core fundamentals.

    Attendees aged 11-17 of all abilities are welcome, from beginners (who have never written a line of code) all the way through to those who may have a few years of coding experience.

    Children who have attended this course in the past can attend again if they enjoyed it the last time: we tailor the coding challenges to build upon topics covered in previous sessions (please indicate previous attendance in booking notes).

  • Websites Workshop 4 Kids (ages 11-16)

    Websites Workshop 4 Kids is a computer coding workshop for children aged 11-16 where attendees will learn about HTML and CSS, two of the coding languages used to power all of the world-wide web. Learning HTML and CSS provides children with instant visual feedback whilst writing code, helping children quickly understand programming and how to build their own websites with confidence.

    Attendees of all abilities are welcome, from beginners (who have never written a line of code) all the way through to experienced coders.

    Those who have attended this workshop in the past can attend again if they enjoyed it the last time; we tailor the coding challenges to build upon topics covered in previous workshops (please indicate previous attendance/experience in booking notes).

    All attendees will be awarded a certificate in recognition of completing the course.
