Our Taster Sessions are a great way to experience what it’s like to learn computer coding with Spark4Kids.
Spark4Kids is offering online GCSE courses for Year 9, 10 and 11 students planning to take the GCSE Computer Science exam. The material and topics covered in these courses are mostly exam-board agnostic, applying to all UK exam boards (with a few exceptions which will be highlighted during the course).
The Python Taster 4 Kids session is designed to give young learners aged 8-11 a sneak peek into the exciting world of Python programming in one session. Perfect for those who have experience with block-based languages like Scratch and are ready to take the next step into text-based coding.
The Games Design 4 Kids course introduces kids to designing and coding 2D video games for computers, mobile devices, and the web. This course is recommended for children aged 11-14 who have extensive experience with block languages (such as Scratch) and want to branch into creating games for web, mobile and desktop using professional-level tools.
The Scratch 4 Kids course is designed for children aged 7-10 who are taking their first steps in coding.
The Spark4Kids Dev Squad is an invitation-only course that extends the “Games Design 4 Kids” course, with a focus on building and releasing mobile games to the Apple App Store and Google Play Store.
JavaScript an ideal programming language for children progressing past the basics of coding, who want an introduction to programming on the web. This course is a next step in progression after completing our “Coding 4 Kids” course. This course is recommended for children aged 11-14 who are ready to progress on to text/keyword-based languages after having programmed “block” based languages (such as Scratch).
The Kodu 4 Kids course is designed for children aged 8-12 who are taking their first steps in coding.
The Python 4 Kids course introduces attendees to a powerful, modern programming language that has a gentle learning curve and features usually found enterprise-level languages. It is used widely in many professional applications. This course is recommended for children aged 11-14 who are ready to progress on to text/keyword-based languages after having programmed “block” based languages (such as Scratch).

Our Tech 4 Little Kids course introduces 5-7 year olds to the basics of computer coding (sequence, selection and repetition), through interactive game-play, animation, story-telling and group coding.
The Typing 4 Kids course is for children either looking to take their first steps in learning how to touch-type, or looking to improve on their existing typing skills. Using a gamified approach to learning to type, the challenges start out simple and progressively become more advanced. Using games, levels, badges, stars and leader boards, children learn to type interactively, building up their muscle memory and increasing accuracy and word-speed.
Unity 4 Kids is a game design course for children aged 11-14, during which they will complete a number of video game coding and level design projects using the professionally-capable Unity games engine and the MonoDevelop scripting tool.
The Web Coding 4 Kids course is designed for children aged 8-12 during which they will learn how to hand-code HTML, CSS and JavaScript by building a mini-website providing information on a topic of their choice. HTML, CSS and JavaScript are the three fundamental building blocks of all websites on the world-wide web, and this course covers these core fundamentals.
